MONUMENT TO ISLAM KARIMOV IS OPENED IN SAMARKAND

Events dedicated to the unfading memory of the First President of our country Islam Karimov are being held on the days of a wide celebration of the 26th anniversary of independence of Uzbekistan. On August 31, 2017 a majestic monument to the founder of our independent state, the great statesman and politician Islam Karimov was opened in Tashkent. The same ceremony was held on September 2 in Samarkand on the occasion of the opening of the Monument to Islam Karimov.

President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev arrived in Samarkand to participate in this solemn event.

The head of our state first visited the burial site of Islam Karimov, paid tribute to the memory of the First President of our country.

The Monument to the First President of our country is set on the avenue near the Registan square – a symbol of Samarkand, not far from the house where Islam Karimov was born and raised. The event was attended by members of the government, representatives of the state and public organizations, the region’s activists, veterans, and youth.

The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev delivered a speech at the opening ceremony of the monument.

Islam Karimov, as the founder of independence and new statehood of our country, great politician and wise reformer, who took care of people’s welfare, who made a significant contribution to ensuring peace and stability in the region and the world, won great respect among our people and the world community.

The noble qualities inherent in the First President of our country, such as unwavering will, patriotism, courage, justice, sincerity and sensitivity, have become a vivid example for all of us.

Islam Karimov put interests of Uzbekistan above all else and spared no effort in the name of its development.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the spouse of the First President Tatyana Karimova opened the Monument to Islam Karimov. They laid flowers at the foot of the monument to the great leader, paid tribute to his memory.

The National anthem of the Republic of Uzbekistan sounded.

By the resolution of the head of our state “On perpetuating the memory of the First President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Abduganiyevich Karimov” of January 25, 2017, it is determined to establish monuments that are recognized as the best at the international creative competition on creation of a monument to Islam Karimov in the capital of our country Tashkent, in Samarkand, where Islam Karimov was born and raised, and in Karshi, where he worked as the first head of Kashkadarya region.

The monument in Samarkand became another reflection of the great respect and love of our people for Islam Karimov.

Chairman of Samarkand regional branch of “Nuroniy” foundation, holder of “El-yurt khurmati” (“Respected by people and homeland”) order H.Normurodov, editor-in-chief of “Zarafshon” and “Samarkandskiy vestnik” (“Samarkand herald”) newspapers F.Toshev, director of the specialized school No.43 of the city of Samarkand E.Kompolshik, people’s poet of Uzbekistan S.Sayyid, a student of Uzbekistan state university of world languages, laureate of the State prize named after Zulfiya D.Olimova, the spouse of the First President of our country Tatyana Karimova shared their memories about Islam Karimov. They emphasized personal courage, perseverance, tireless work and invaluable contribution of the great politician to the comprehensive development of Uzbekistan, ensuring peace and tranquility in the country, improving the welfare of our people, selfless love for the Motherland.

The foot of the Monument to the First President of our country is covered with flowers.
