On December 16, 2019, on the eve of the official visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Japan, Cooperation Agreement was signed between the National Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Foreign Economic Activity (NBU) and Japanese Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group (SMFG) for the total amount of 200 million USD.
The agreement provides new opportunities for expanding cooperation, taking into account the coverage by the SMFG group of various areas of financial activity: banking, insurance, leasing, asset management, securities transactions, issuance of Eurobonds, etc.
The agreement also provides that the parties to the investment company SMBC Nikko will be provided with consulting services in the process of recognizing NBU on the international capital market.
