Following the negotiations between the leaders of Uzbekistan and Russia, a significant package of documents was adopted.
The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin signed the Joint Statement.
Exchange of documents, signed during the visit, was held. These are Economic Cooperation Program for 2019-2024, Cooperation Program in cultural-humanitarian sphere for 2019-2021, Roadmap for creation of Suffa International Radio Astronomy Observatory, Agreement on establishment and operation of branches of leading universities of Russia in Uzbekistan, Agreement on cooperation in textile industry.
Supplementary agreement on investment block “Uzbekistan’s independence” with exploration and exploitation of “The 25th anniversary of Independence” with construction of a gas chemical complex in Surkhandarya region, Cooperation Agreement between the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Moscow State University named after M.V.Lomonosov, Agreement on establishment of a branch of Moscow State Institute of International Relations in Uzbekistan, Agreement on establishment of Interdisciplinary Scientific Educational Center, Agreement between the Council of Rectors of Higher Education Institutions of Uzbekistan and Russian Rectors Union All-Russian Public Organization, Agreement on cooperation between the National Guard of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Federal Service of the National Guard of the Russian Federation were signed.
20 documents on development of cooperation in various spheres were signed during the visit.
At the briefing for the mass media, the Presidents noted that negotiations in a narrow and extended formats were held in a traditionally confidential, open and constructive atmosphere.
The state and prospects for development of comprehensive cooperation were discussed, coincidence or proximity of positions of the two countries on current regional and international issues were discussed.
It was noted that relations between the two countries reached a qualitatively new level.
Russian investments attracted into Uzbekistan’s economy exceeds 8.5 billion USD. In this regard, Uzbekistan – Russia First Interregional Cooperation Forum plays an important role, the results of which became agreements on implementation of projects worth more than 2 billion USD.
The sides confirmed their readiness for further cooperation within the UN, CIS, SCO, OSCE, ESCAP and other authoritative international and regional structures.
The Presidents noted that expansion of security partnership based on principles of mutual trust and consideration of each other’s interests will contribute to joint solution of tasks to counter new challenges and threats in Central Asian Region.
Views were exchanged on coordination of joint measures to counter terrorism, extremism, especially radicalization among youth.
The sides are convinced that process of peaceful reconstruction of Afghanistan should be carried out only by Afghans themselves and under the leadership of Afghans.
Russia welcomed important steps taken by Uzbekistan to promote peace process in Afghanistan.
Heads of states noted positive trends in development of mutually beneficial and effective regional cooperation in Central Asia.
Priority attention is given to development of cultural-humanitarian ties, especially in the field of science, education, healthcare and tourism.
From this academic year, a branch of Moscow Institute of Steel and Alloys was opened in Almalyk city in order to obtain qualitative Russian education in Uzbekistan.
In addition to successfully operating branches of Moscow State University, Russian Economic Academy, Russian State University of Oil and Gas, it is planned to open branches of MGIMO, National Research Nuclear University MEPhI, All-Russian State Institute of Cinematography, Moscow Power Engineering Institute, Chemical Technology University of Russia.
An agreement was reached to intensify cooperation in the sphere of science, including within the framework of joint project on creating super-powerful radio telescope on Suffa plateau in Jizzakh region.
The Fourth Uzbekistan – Russia Youth Forum will be held in Uzbekistan in order to bring people of the two countries closer together.
The President of Uzbekistan focused on another important issue. In order to worthily celebrate in 2020 the 75th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, in Uzbekistan it is planned to develop special program and create Victory park complex in Tashkent within its framework, which will become a symbol of our shared struggle against fascism, will contribute to education of the younger generation in the spirit of respect for history, patriotism and friendship of people.
The sides expressed confidence that the state visit of the President of Russia to Uzbekistan will give a powerful impetus to further development of full-scale cooperation between the two countries in the spirit of strategic partnership and alliance.
