During the visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Russia in April 2017, a production sharing agreement was signed with Russian investors providing for the exploration and development of “Mustaqillikning 25 yilligi” field in Baysun district with further construction of the gas chemical complex.
This has been reported by the Press Service of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The project worth 5.27 billion US dollars is planned to be implemented in two stages.
At the first stage, in 2018-2022, it is planned to build a processing plant with an annual capacity of 5 billion cubic meters per year. At the second stage, for 2023-2025, it is planned to build a gas chemical complex capable of producing 500 thousand tons of polymer products per year by processing 1.5 billion cubic meters of gas. 2.2 thousand jobs will be created after the project implementation.
At present, 3D seismic exploration continues at the gas field, Eriell company is drilling 7 appraisal wells. Specialists of Baker Hughes, Halliburton and Schlumberger foreign companies are working at the facility.
The project being implemented in Baysun will allow the complex development of the southern regions of the country, will become another impetus for the development of the fuel and energy, chemical industries, the construction industry and the transport infrastructure.
The President visited Baysun district and got acquainted with the project implementation.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev gave instructions on accelerating exploration and development of the field, construction of external infrastructure and a gas processing plant.
Presentation of projects on construction of a 900-megawatt thermal power plant in Surkhandarya, modernization of engineering networks, drinking water supply for the residents of Baysun district and others took place.
