Jizzakh Cement Plant has been commissioned in the Zafarabad district of Jizzakh region.
Operating within the Almalyk Mining and Metal Plant open joint stock company, the enterprise is projected to produce 350 thousand tons of white cement and 760 thousand tons of Portland cement a year. White cement is rather valuable a crude and enjoys a great demand in the global market. Thus, 70 percent of white cement is intended for export. Employment of 430 people here at the mill is secured at the present.
A 1,400 meter railway is laid in the territory of the enterprise; 10 trucks, two excavators and other modern machinery are procured. All the production processes are automated.
The availability of major deposits of limestone, the principal raw material for the production of cement, has served as a basis for the erection of this mill. Gypsum is brought from Bukhara region, quartz is transported from Navoi region, while kaolin and iron-containing additives are carried in from Tashkent region. In addition, loess – another crude essential for the production of cement – is mined in Jizzakh region.
