In the first nine months of the current year, all types of transport in Uzbekistan carried more than 1.17 billion tons of cargo, which is a 4.8% increase year on year.
As reported by the State Statistics Committee, “the share of road transport was 91.8% (1.07 billion tons), railway transport stood at 4.3% (50.8 million tons), pipeline transport accounted for 3.9% (45.7 million tons) in the total volume of transported cargo.”
The share of road transport was 37.3%, pipeline transport – 36.5%, railway transport – 26.1% in the turnover structure.
5.6 billion passengers were transported in January-September with a four percent increase against the same period in 2015. The largest proportion in passenger traffic accounted for road transport – 99%, its share in passenger turnover amounted to 89.5%.
15.5 million people traveled by rail with a two percent increase YOY. The passenger turnover in January-September 2016 increased by 2.9% and exceeded 2.95 billion passenger-kilometers.
