The National Library named after Alisher Navoi, together with the State Committee for Family and Women, hosted a cultural and enlightenment event on “The Most Reading Nation”.
The event was attended by responsible persons of the State Committee for Family and Women, active women of the “Oqila Ayollar” movement, women scientists, writers, poetesses, activists of mahallas of Tashkent, and librarians.
Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan – Chairperson of the State Committee for Family and Women Zulaykho Mahkamova noted that Uzbekistan attaches priority to the issue of raising the status of women in state and public life.
At the event, poetess Zulfiya Muminova, Munavvara Usmonova, Sayyora Tuychiyeva, scientist Jamila Shermukhamedova shared their thoughts on the incredibly rich Uzbek language, the unique works of our ancestors and examples of creativity written in the Uzbek language. New poems were read.
Following the event, proposals were made to enhance cooperation between the State Committee for Family and Women and the National Library of Uzbekistan, develop and implement a road map for further development of reading.
At the initiative of the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan – Chairperson of the State Committee for Family and Women Zulaykho Mahkamova, the 17th day of each month was declared Reading Mothers Day.
