The Uzbek capital has hosted the Asian and Oceania Judo Championship among Paralympic athletes with the participation of about 100 representatives of 10 countries along 13 weight categories. The Paralympic team of Uzbekistan won 18 medals. Participants received rating points necessary for qualifying for the Paralympics 2020 in Tokyo.
The prestigious sports competitions were organized by the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Physical Culture and Sports, the National Paralympics Association, the National Olympic Committee and the Judo Federation of our country together with the International Sports Association of the Blind (IBSA).
The International Sports Association of the Blind, with the constant attention paid to the development of sports in Uzbekistan, including the judo’s Paralympics program, the country’s rich experience in holding high-status sporting forums at a high level and the availability of modern sports infrastructure, entrusted holding this championship to Tashkent. Uzbekistan has carried out the necessary work to organize the championship at a high level in accordance with international standards.
Yokutkhon Kamilova (up to 48 kg), Sevinch Sallayeva (up to 52 kg), Nafisa Sheripbayeva (up to 57 kg), Sherzod Namazov (up to 60 kg), Vasilla Aliboyeva (up to 70 kg), Feruz Saidov Kg), Tursunpashsha Nurmetova (up to 63 kg) and Shuhrat Boboyev (up to 90 kg) rose to the highest point of the pedestal of honor.
Silver medals were awarded to Davrukhon Karamatov (up to 73 kg) and Shirin Sharipov (+100 kg).
Lobar Khurramova (up to 48 kg), Adizjon Tuymuradov (up to 66 kg), Gulruh Rahimova (up to 70 kg), Ahliddin Umarov (up to 81 kg), Shohruz Toshev (up to 81 kg) and Kuvandykjon Bozorov (up to 90 kg) won the bronze.
The women’s national team proved unmatched in the team competitions, while the men’s team came third.
In total, Uzbekistan earned eight gold, two silver and seven bronze medals and won the first place in the team event. Second comes South Korea (3-3-3), followed by Iran (2-2-3).
