India invited Uzbekistan to establish a Center of Study of the Uzbek Language and Literature on the basis of the Jawaharlal Nehru University with the invitation of leading Uzbek linguists for lecturing.
This was told by the Director of the Center for Studies of Central Asia and Russia at the Jawaharlal Nehru University Sanjai Pandey. In his opinion, “the development of fruitful and effective cooperation with Uzbekistan is in the interests of India. First of all, it concerns the trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian aspects. In particular, it is necessary to strengthen such popular areas of interaction as investment, pharmaceuticals and tourism. In addition, today there is a great interest in India not only in studying the culture and history of the Uzbek people, but also in Uzbek language. In this regard, Indian side proposed establishment of the Center for the Study of the Uzbek Language and Literature on the basis of the Jawaharlal Nehru University with the invitation of the leading linguists of Uzbekistan to give lectures.”
