Tashkent started Asian Weightlifting Championships, which qualify for the upcoming 31st Summer Olympic Games in Brazil, Rio de Janeiro. The organizers of the sporting event – Asian Weightlifting Federation, Ministry of Culture and Sports of Uzbekistan, National Olympic Committee and Federation of Weightlifting of Uzbekistan.
At this prestigious competition of nearly 300 athletes from more than 30 Asian countries compete for prizes and tickets to the Olympics. At this tournament, the honor of our country to protect such experienced athletes as Ruslan Nurudinov, Ivan Efremov, Ulugbek Alimov, Sardorbek Dustmurodov, Rustam Jangaboev, Doston Yokubov, Muhammad Begaliyev, Adham Ergashev, Marina Sysoeva, Lola Kodirova, Muattar Nabiyeva, Gulnoza Akhmedova, Manzura Mamasolieva, Omadoy Otakuzieva, Diana Tojieva.
It should be noted that today the weightlifting school of Uzbekistan has a special status, not only on the continent but in the world as a whole. Our weightlifters achieve good results at various prestigious tournaments. The sports season 2015 Asian Cup, held in Jordan among youth and adults, representatives of Uzbekistan won 15 gold and 12 silver medals.
Athletes, coaches and specialists of our country are preparing for the next Olympic Games, guided by the decision of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan “About preparation of athletes of Uzbekistan to the 31st Summer Olympic and 15th Paralympic Games in 2016 in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil)” of February 25, 2013.
