On May 3, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting with the delegation of the Republic of Korea led by the Chairman of the Committee on Northern Economic Cooperation, Song Young-gil.
Warmly greeting the guest, the Head of the country once again sincerely congratulated the leadership and friendly Korean people on successful holding the inter-Korean summit on April 27 this year, in Panmunjom.
It was emphasized that fruitful results of this historic event became possible due to the resolute position and efforts of the President of the Republic of Korea, Moon Jae-in, on practical implementation of political course – the “New Northern Policy”, aimed at improving relations with the DPRK, ensuring security and stability, as well as strengthening confidence in the region.
The dynamic development of strategic partnership and expansion of multifaceted interaction between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Korea were noted with deep satisfaction.
The agreements reached following the visit at the highest level to South Korea in November 2017 brought bilateral cooperation to a higher level, filling it with qualitatively new content – specific projects and programs in various areas.
During the conversation, the sides discussed prospects for further deepening mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries, including in trade, economic, financial, investment, innovation and humanitarian spheres, education and healthcare.
The sides also exchanged views on current issues of international policy and regional cooperation.
In turn, Song Young-gil expressed his deep gratitude to the President of Uzbekistan for the warm welcome and sincere congratulations, and conveyed sincere greetings and best wishes on behalf of the President of the Republic of Korea, Moon Jae-in.
The Korean side assured in the interest of consistent expansion and strengthening full-scale and multi-format partnership between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Korea in order to ensure peace, stability and sustainable development in the region.
