President Shavkat Mirziyoyev pardoned 261 convicts

On August 30, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a Decree “On pardoning a group of people serving a sentence in the form of deprivation of liberty, who sincerely repented of their actions and firmly embarked on the path of correction”.
By the Decree with a view to practical embodiment of the principle of charity and humanism, as well as such noble qualities of our people as generosity, leniency and nobility on the eve of celebration of the twenty-seventh anniversary of independence of the Republic of Uzbekistan, according to the paragraph 23 of the Article 93 of the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan, 261 citizens have been pardoned serving sentences of imprisonment who have sincerely repented of their actions and firmly embarked on the path of correction.
According to the Decree, 215 persons who will be returned to their families and relatives will be released from penitentiary institutions, as well as sentences in the form of deprivation of liberty appointed in respect of 46 persons shall be reduced.
pardoned people are persons over the age of 60135 – persons who participated in activities of prohibited organizations.
By the Decree, responsible ministries and agencies have been tasked to assist pardoned persons in social adaptation, involvement in good work, choosing a healthy lifestyle and occupying a worthy place in society.
