On June 4, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev had a telephone conversation with the President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
The Heads of states at the beginning of the conversation sincerely congratulated each other and peoples of Uzbekistan and Turkey on the holy holiday Eid al-Fitr and exchanged warm wishes.
It was emphasized that friendship, mutual trust and strategic partnership between the two countries are intensively developing and strengthening in all areas, including in political, trade-economic and investment spheres.
It was noted with satisfaction that bilateral trade turnover increased by 30 percent in four months of 2019, and the number of joint ventures doubled over the past year and a half.
A number of leading Turkish companies are actively involved in preparation of major production and infrastructure projects. Cultural-humanitarian exchange is being expanded, healthcare and education programs are being implemented.
The need for careful preparation for the first meeting of Uzbekistan – Turkey Strategic Cooperation Council of the highest level was noted.
For this purpose, the parties agreed to hold meetings of working groups led by Foreign Ministers and a regular meeting of Joint Intergovernmental Commission in the near future.
Current issues of international and regional agenda were also discussed during the conversation.
