The Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies hosted an international scientific and practical conference dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the famous actor and director, the legend of Indian cinema, Raj Kapoor’s birth.
The event was attended by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of India to Uzbekistan Smita Pant, Rector of Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies Gulchekhra Rikhsiyeva, members of Raj Kapoor’s family, director of the film “Ali Baba and the 40 Thieves” Umesh Mehra, Doctor of Historical and Philological Sciences, Professor, famous Indologist, author of the book “I am Raj Kapoor” Akhmadjon Qosimov, orientalists of the university, and students.
The speakers talked about the work of Raj Kapoor, his significant contribution to the development of cinematography, and the strengthening of cultural ties between Uzbekistan and India. The event participants emphasized that Raj Kapoor’s work is important in enriching cultural heritage and strengthening interethnic ties.
