The Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Melioration has been transformed into the Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Mechanization of Agriculture.

The institute has to train highly qualified and in-demand engineering and technical personnel in the field of agriculture and water management who are able to effectively solve strategic tasks for the introduction and wide use of modern agricultural and meliorative machinery, machines and mechanisms, water-saving technologies in the agricultural sector.

The Institute will be the anchor in these areas of education. State educational standards, curricula and programs, scientific and methodical literature on engineering and technical areas and specialties in the field of agriculture and water resources will be developed here. There will be taken into account the best international experience and strategic objectives of development and modernization of agricultural production. Training of specialists in these specialties will be also conducted by other universities.

Applied and innovative scientific researches and developments will be elaborated at the institute. The attention of scientists will be directed to the solution of scientific and technical problems of rational use of land and water resources, meliorative improvement of irrigated areas, increasing the level of mechanization of agriculture.

Ensuring the continuity and succession of educational programs of higher and secondary special, vocational education will be a strategic sector. Here they will develop educational and methodological materials for academic lyceums and professional colleges to train technical specialists in the field of agriculture and water management boost the professional skills of their teaching staff.

The Institute will be engaged on a regular basis in retraining and advanced training of pedagogical staff and specialists in the field of irrigation and mechanization of agriculture with the involvement of recognized domestic and foreign scientists and specialists. Particular attention in this process will be placed on the introduction of modern educational technologies and distance learning methods into the educational process.

The new university is entrusted with the development of partnership relations with the leading specialized foreign educational institutions and scientific centers, including the A.N.Kostyakov Moscow Institute of Environmental Engineering, the V.P.Goryachkin Institute of Mechanics and Energy at the K.A.Timiriazev Russian State Agrarian University, the Moscow State University for Land Management. Within the framework of this partnership, joint scientific and educational projects will be realized; the involvement of foreign teachers and specialists in the scientific and educational process, the organization of further training and internship of scientific and pedagogical personnel abroad will be carried out.
