Literary public has gathered at the Samarkand College of Arts for a poetry and music soiree in tribute to birthday anniversaries of Alisher Navoi and Zahiriddin Muhammad Babur.
The event organized jointly by the local hokimiyat, the Samarkand regional department for culture and sports and the regional division of the Republican Center for Spiritual Development, was attended by students of higher education institutions, academic lyceums, professional colleges and general schools.
Executive secretary of the regional branch of Uzbekistan’s Union of Writers orif Khojiev, the associate professor of the Alisher Navoi Samarkand State University Usman Kobilov, the poet Yormuhammad Rustamov and others noted that the life and creativity of our great forefathers and their literary legacy are instrumental in fostering the younger generation.
“These great poets and thinkers who multiplied the world renown of our people are our pride,” declared Salohiddin Sanakulov, the head of the regional division of the Republican Center for Spiritual Development. “At the same time, the study, propaganda and the effective use of their rich spiritual and enlightenment heritage are important for every one of us, especially the youths.”
The occasion included scenic performances prepared by groups of the Hamid Alimjan regional musical drama theater and the Samarkand College of Arts. The event participants also enjoyed songs composed for ghazels by Navoi and Babur.
