Shavkat Mirziyoyev has departed for Surkhandarya

On January 19, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev departed for Surkhandarya region for getting acquainted with the progress of socio-economic reforms, construction and landscaping activities at places, as well as for conducting dialogue with people.

Surkhandarya region was founded on March 6, 1941. The population is 2,5 million people. The total area is 20,1 thousand square kilometers. There are 280,8 thousand hectares of sown areas, including 240,9 thousand hectares of irrigated land in the region. The administrative center of the region is the city of Termez. Each of 13 districts of the region has its own specifics. There are 24 large industrial enterprises, 60 joint ventures, more than 11 thousand small business and private entrepreneurship entities.

President of our country during his trip to Surkhandarya region on February 10-11, 2017, got acquainted with a number of promising projects and gave necessary instructions on socio-economic development of the region. Over the past year, a number of industrial facilities have been commissioned in the region, social projects aimed at improving the well-being of the population have been implemented, many new jobs have been created.
