On April 19, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited Navoi region.
The Head of the state held a meeting with heads of four sectors, responsible persons of organizations and agencies of the region. Progress of implementation of tasks defined during the visit of the President to the region on March 2, 2018 was considered. Tasks on further socio-economic development of the region, increasing the living standards of the population were defined.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev got acquainted with activities of “Navoiazot” joint stock company.
Capacities of the current joint stock company “Navoiazot” were commissioned in 1964. The company produces more than 70 types of products for agriculture, oil and gas, energy and mining industries. Over the time, the equipment and technologies of the enterprise have become obsolete both morally and physically, production is accompanied by high costs of energy resources and raw materials, the efficiency has ceased to meet modern requirements. In this regard, the company is carrying out a phased modernization.
Particularly, the company is actively continuing implementation of three major investment projects: “Construction of a production complex of polyvinyl chloride (PVC), caustic soda and methanol”, “Construction of ammonia and urea production” and “Organization of nitric acid production”. New facilities will be equipped with modern, energy-saving equipment.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev got acquainted with progress of construction activities at these new facilities, talked with builders and foreign investors.
The cost of the project for production of polyvinyl chloride (PVC), caustic soda and methanol is more than 500 million USD. Construction work is carried out by a consortium of Chinese companies “China CAMC Engineering CO. LTD” and “HQC (Shanghai)” with participation of Uzbekistan’s specialists.
Commissioning of the enterprise will allow to produce import-substituting products – 100 thousand tons of polyvinyl chloride, 75 thousand tons of caustic soda, 300 thousand tons of methanol per year. More than 900 jobs will be created. More than 50 percent of the production is planned to be exported.
197 modern equipment and 1280 employees are participating in construction works. Special attention is paid to providing the enterprise with qualified personnel. Engineers-technologists, mechanics, power engineers, economists and programmers are trained in higher education institutions of the country, most of the workers will be trained by professional colleges of Navoi city.
The Head of the state noted the important role of such large-scale production for the country’s economy and gave instructions to responsible persons for speedy and high-quality completion of construction works.
It is planned to disable energy-intensive capacity of the first and second stages for production of ammonia in JSC “Navoiazot”. A project for production of ammonia and urea worth $985 million is being implemented. After the completion of construction works, it will be possible to receive 660 thousand tons of ammonia and 577,5 thousand tons of urea per year, expand the range of mineral fertilizers produced on their basis. About 500 jobs will be created.
The complex, built in conjunction with Japanese companies “Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd” and “Mitsubishi Corporation”, is scheduled to be commissioned in 2020.
Obsolete the first and second stages of nitrogen production will be decommissioned. Instead of these, construction of a new complex for production of nitric acid will be completed next year, the project cost of which is 216,6 million dollars. This object is built by “CASALE SA” Swiss Company. 500 thousand tons of products will be produced by the complex per year, and 122 people will be employed.
Special attention should be paid to training qualified engineers and workers capable of working in such large industrial enterprises. It is advisable to send our specialists abroad to exchange experience and improve their skills, said Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
