A number of important agreements aimed at expanding mutually beneficial economic and trade cooperation have been achieved, in the framework of events held during the state visit of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the Republic of Korea .
In particular, the Ministry for foreign trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Ministry of trade, industry and energy of the Republic of Korea discussed the possibility of establishing a free trade zone and reached agreement on the need to ensure preferential access to the markets of the two countries.
In this regard, heads of ministries adopted a decision on holding the first meeting of the joint working group until the end of this year. The meeting is set to contribute to the preparation of a bilateral Agreement on preferential trade between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Korea.
In addition, the governments of the two countries signed a Memorandum and a Road map on rendering assistance to Uzbekistan on accession to the WTO, including by assessing the possible consequences of accession to this organization, the examination of national legislation in accordance with the requirements of the WTO agreements, as well as rendering technical, advisory and expert support to relevant ministries and departments.
