Stepping up Opportunities for Manufacturers

The International Industrial Fair and Cooperation Exchange regional stage has taken place in Nukus.

The occasion was organized in accordance with the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On Measures to Arrange and Conduct the International Industrial Fair and Cooperation Exchange in 2014” signed 24 February 2014. It was underscored that the fair is particularly instrumental in bolstering mutual ties among corporate entities and providing the domestic market with quality local-made goods.

1,057 industrial enterprises operate currently in the Republic of Karakalpakstan, including 24 major enterprises and 1,033 small businesses. Three enterprises specialize in the production of import substituting goods.

“The last year’s fair was attended by 185 enterprises and organizations, and the deals reached totaled 6.9 billion soums. This time around, 215 enterprises offer in excess of 1,200 types of produce,” shares Tamara Duysenbina, head of department at the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Karakalpakstan. “In addition, 16 other enterprises from other regions are taking part in the fair, as well.”

“We present some 20 types of products manufactured by us: household items, plastic and iron venetian blinds, knitwear, towels, bedspreads,” says Kholiyor Kholnazarov, chief executive of the enterprise Dur Kushbegi Biznes in the Zangiata district of Tashkent region. “I believe we will have more customers after the fair.”

The fair presents foods, sewing products and knitwear, cleaning fluids, vacuum cleaners, television sets, plastic covers, solar batteries – in general more than thirty new types of goods.

As a result of the special attention being paid under the leadership of our country’s President to the development of manufacturing industry across the nation, modern vacuum cleaners are being produced currently in the Republic of Karakalpakstan. Starting from this year, television sets of the latest brand are also to be manufactured. The project is being run by the Jaihun Electronics Ltd. Thus, 300 TV sets in the 3D format are planned to be produced here in 2014.

Leading industrial enterprises held presentations of their produce as part of the overall event.

In total, agreements reached have exceeded 9 billion 200 million soums.

Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Karakalpakstan B.Yangiboev delivered speech at the occasion.
