Tashkent – the capital of Uzbekistan – today embodies the country’s economic and spiritual power, as well as the creative force, diligence, kindness and hospitality of the Uzbek nation.

The city has flourished and grown young again. Modern unique structures and houses, cultural amenities facilities and educational establishments, roads and bridges have been built and squares, recreation parks and markets reconstructed. Magnificent structures have been erected, which harmoniously harmonize the achievements of national and global architecture.

In the level of livability and availability of public amenities services the capital of Uzbekistan has been rated the 58th place of 140 and was included into the number of the most comfortable big cities of the planet, according to the prestigious British magazine “The Economist”. Experts have specifically valued Tashkent by the indicator for receiving high quality education by its residents. The capital of Uzbekistan is also among 50 major cities of the world in the quality of developed transport and communication infrastructure.

People of Uzbekistan by right feel proud bоth about ancient masterpieces of national architecture built by our ancient ancestors and modern architectural ensembles created during the last 25 years. The Mustaqillik (Independence) Square is one of the most cherished places of the capital. Back at the dawn of independence a large gilded globe (6 meters in diameter) was erected on the pedestal in its center, which bears the contour map of our state, a symbol of Uzbekistan’s independence and its recognition as a full-fledged member of the world community. There is also here a monument to a Happy Mother, who presses her infant to her breast, and there is an imprint of love for life on the face and belief in the bright future of her child. After all, if a woman is happy, then also happy is her family; and if a family is happy, then the society prospers too.

The buildings of the Senate and the Government have also been renovated and now they please the eyes with modern architectural solutions and national color.

The Arch of good and noble aspirations was built on the main square of the country in August 2005. Newly-weds, standing on the threshold of their new life, pass under it with good hopes and ponder for a moment about the bright and beautiful future and wish happiness to themselves and others. The Arch harmoniously blends with the square. Poised far into the sky, storks above the Arch at the entrance to the square, symbolize the bright dreams of our people – because these white birds are endowed by God with the beauty, purity and eternal aspiration to fly high in the skies and the quest for perfection.

There are many places in Tashkent where the ancient past coexists with modernity, where one feels the acute sense of connection between centuries. One of them is the Amir Temur Square with its magnificent monuments to our great ancestor. It is impossible to pass by and do not stop by this work of art.

This unified and inimitable ensemble of Amir Temur Square includes other unique buildings. This, for example, is the State Museum of History of Temurids, built in 1996. The attention is also attracted by the “Uzbekistan” Palace of International Forums, which is an amazing sample of national architecture.

Retaining its historical appearance, Tashkent is being continuously renovated. Unique facilities such as the International Business Center, the “Ma’rifat markazi” complex, the Poytakht Business Center, and the Bunyodkor Sports Complex createdon the basis of harmonious combination of national architecture and modern architectural solutions, have turned into landmarks that boost the city’s looks. Modern hotels, residential houses, social facilities, roads and bridges, wonderful parks and alleys create favorable conditions for the residents of the city and its guests.

Large-scale construction and repair work has been carried out, for example, on the Khadra Square in 2013. An underground transport tunnel was reconstructed with the aim of creating convenient passage for people and vehicles. A new bridge was built on Sebzor Street in 2015 as a continuation of this project.

A complex of modern multi-stories apartments was turned into operation on the Alisher Navoi Street in 2013. It has beautified still more the city’s architectural ensemble blends harmoniously with other structures and installations.

Special attention in the capital city is allocated to green plants, quality of air and proximity to natural recreation zones. There are almost 69 sq.m. of area under trees, shrubs and flower gardens per capita of population in the city. During the last 10 years alone several new parks have been laid out in the city on a total area of 40 ha, and 7,5 ha of asphalt-covered pavements in places of mass recreation of city dwellers have been turned into flowerbeds and lawns. The overall area under green plants has reached 15.2 thousand ha, which makes up 35% of the entire territory of the city. The area under green plants per capita of population in the capital city of Uzbekistan has increased by 22 sq.m. in recent years.

Our capital has turned into a true garden city during the years of independence. Annually the streets and avenues of the city are planted with 400-500 thousand saplings, 100-150 thousand shrubs and 20 million roses!

One forgets about the noise of the city traffic or summer heat at the renovated National park named after Navoi, at the Ankhor embankment or in the Japanese garden; here one wishes to merge with nature and become part of it. And there are so many such “emerald” corners in the city! Also popular with people are green zones next to the Central Department Store and the “Turkiston” palace.

Numerous fountains, unique in their design, attach particular beauty to the capital city. There are more than fifty of them, 15 of which are “dancing” ones, i.e. they are fitted out with modern illumination and equipment driving jets of water in compliance with the musical harmony. Those stately and relatively small fountains combine centuries-old architectural and national traditions and modern technologies.

Tashkent continues to grow and transform. New streets, roads, residential apartments, housing estates, recreation and culture parks, buildings and structures are being built and laid out, and thanks to them the capital city is becoming more and more beautiful, cozier and comfortable.

Today Tashkent has turned into a center of attraction. Every one of us loves it with our whole heart and foreign guest sincerely admire it. The city has turned into a true Gem of the Orient and the entire world over the past 25 years.
