These days, UzLiDeP and its faction in the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis are actively discussing new draft law “On labor protection” among electorates in different places. One of such events was held in Andijan region with participation of members of UzLiDeP faction, MPs of local councils and representatives of partner organizations.

It was noted that the current law does not meet the modern requirements of the market economy in our country, the processes of deepening democratic reforms, liberalization of the economy, labor law development and entrepreneurial activities. Participants were explained that the purpose of the draft law is to bring the norms of the law into line with the requirements of newly adopted laws and normative-legal acts, increasing responsibility of employer and employees on implementing in organizations of occupational safety requirements, defining the functions of specially authorized state bodies, other government bodies on ensuring appropriate control over working conditions and labor protection.

— The draft law “On labor protection” in the new edition will provide the norms establishing the procedure for increasing the responsibility of individuals to ensure labor protection, the order of conducting of state expertise over labor protection, rights and duties of employer and employees – said a member of UzLiDeP faction in the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis O. Egamov. – The adoption of this law will ensure the proper organization of labor protection and safety in enterprises that will create conditions for the employer and for the employee to fulfill the requirements on labor protection without further intervention of the bodies of state supervision and control as well as it will lead to greater social protection of workers, including minors.

A systematic work on economic liberalization, introduction of market management mechanisms, and the establishment of a favorable business climate in the country has been carried out in the Republic over the years. As a result, the number of employers, especially in the private sector has significantly increased, the share of small business and private entrepreneurship in gross domestic product currently is more than 56 per cent and now this area employs more than 77 percent of the employed population. Given that the electorate of UzLiDeP is mainly comprised of entrepreneurs and farmers who are employers, it is important to review the current Law “On labor protection”, which in turn will strengthen the social responsibility as of employer, so of responsible workers on the execution of labor protection requirements.

During the meeting, the representatives of the electorate, specialists and experts in the field shared their practical proposals and recommendations on the draft law.
