Central Election Commission of the Republic of Uzbekistan adopted decrees on the registration of candidates for deputy of the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan and on the order of election campaigning.
As you know, all the political parties within the statutory period spent congresses, which were nominated candidates for the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis. In accordance with Article 24 of the Law “On elections to the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan” the Central Election Commission were sent statements of party leaders with a request for registration of candidates, as well as the decisions of the supreme bodies of political parties to nominate candidates, protocols of their meetings on nomination of candidates, applications of candidates for deputies of consent to run the relevant constituency and the exemption from the work performed in case of election of deputies of Legislative Chamber.
Specially formed working group of senior officials and members of the Central Election Commission within the statutory period performed verification of documents submitted by political parties. Particular attention is paid to compliance with the conditions for the nomination of candidates for deputies of supreme body of political party nomination of one congressional district one candidate for deputy, as well as the corresponding candidate requirements to them by law.
According to requirements of electoral law for CEC lists of candidates for deputies of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis will be published in the press indicating the surname, name, patronymic, year of birth, party affiliation, position, place of work and residence of each candidate, and political party which nominated him.
As noted at the press conference after the registration of candidates begins an important stage of the election campaign – campaigning.
Candidates for deputies will create all necessary conditions for meetings with voters. Let us recall that according to the changes in the electoral law meetings of voters conducted by political parties themselves.
At the press conference emphasized that the provision of all candidates, political parties equal opportunities for fair and open election campaign will promote healthy competition based on political pluralism.
The election campaign is increasingly gaining momentum. Upcoming parliamentary elections have focused international attention. Currently, many representatives of international organizations and foreign countries have confirmed their intention to participate in elections in Uzbekistan as observers. In addition, the CEC has accredited more than 300 representatives of foreign and local media to cover the campaign.
