Termez hosted the XII International Conference “Central Asia – 2018. Internet, information and library resources in science, education, culture and business”.
Within the framework of the conference, an exhibition of new books and albums, magazines and other products of publishing houses of Uzbekistan was organized in the Youth Center of Termez.
To date, more than 1 thousand 100 libraries, information and resource centers of the region are offering their services to readers. Modern bookshops are being built at places. Home libraries are organized.
Leading scientists and specialists of Uzbekistan, as well as experienced specialists from South Korea, Pakistan, Iran, Russia, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan attended the plenary session, which took place on the first day of the conference.
On the second day of the conference the participants divided into four groups and exchanged views on such themes as “New tendencies in development of information and library sphere in the territories: ways of cooperation”, “The role of information and library institutions in development of science and education”, “Issues of cooperation of information-library institutions with publishing houses, archives and museums: in the light of the execution of government orders”, “Introduction of technologies and innovations is an important factor in improving the quality of providing information and library services to the population”. Experienced experts conducted master classes for librarians from different regions of the country on electronic databases EBSCO, Web of Science, as well as a workshop and presentation on activities and projects of “E Line Press” company.
Following the international conference, the regional information and library center named after Adib Sobir Termezi was given 900 artistic, historical, legal, scientific and other books published by the publishing houses of the country.
