TRADE UNION FEDERATION HOLDS MEETING WITH ILO DELEGATION

On January 17, the Federation of Trade Union of Uzbekistan held a meeting with the representatives of the International Labour Organization.

Anton Hauzen, the Chief Technical Advisor of the Project Implementation Support of Country decent work program, Oksana Lipkanu. the ILO expert, Anastasiya Dubova, the expert on reporting and assessment of the effectiveness of the ILO project “Implementation of country decent work programs in Uzbekistan”, Kudratilla Rafikov, the Chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions of Uzbekistan as well as other officials of the Federation attended the meeting.

Trade Union Federation’s chairman expressed gratitude to the ILO for the tremendous work in providing assistance to Uzbekistan and the Federation in promoting decent work. He noted that cooperation between Uzbekistan and the ILO is considered as progressive and constructive.

He also stressed the importance of decent work country programs between Uzbekistan and the ILO. A systematic work has been done within the implementation of ILO conventions, strengthening social partnership, raising the potential of Trade Unions.

The delegation was presented an information about systematic measures in the country aimed to further enhance the potential of officials and the public on compliance with labor standards.

In turn, A.Hauzen expressed gratitude for the readiness to continue the constructive cooperation between the Federation through the signing of a new Memorandum of Understanding and the extension of the current country program till 2020.

A.Hauzen noted that the ILO Director General G. Rayder is satisfied with the participation of the ILO in the process that contributes to the expansion of social partnership in Uzbekistan. The Director General also noted that Uzbekistan has achieved significant positive results in the field of social and labor relations, strong social protection. He emphasized that Uzbekistan is demonstrating a responsible and balanced approach to international commitments in the sphere of labor. A constructive social dialogue has been established at the highest level between the government, employers and trade unions. Uzbekistan’s experience in this area is a good example for other countries.
