The number of employed in the economy of Uzbekistan in January-September 2016 amounted to 13289,3 thousand, having increased compared to the same period last year by 1.8%. The number of people employed in the public sector amounted to 18.1% of total employment (in 2015 – 18.3%), in the private sector – 81.9% (81.7%), according to State Statistics Committee.
The share of employment in small business has increased to 77.8% (2015 – 77.5%).
Employment rates were significant in such economic activities as transportation and warehousing (3.8%), services for accommodation and food (3.7%), information and communication (3.4%), construction (3.3%) and trade (2.8%).
In terms of types of economic activities, the share of employed in agriculture, forestry and fisheries amounted to 27.5%, in industry 13.6%, trade – 10.6%, construction – 9.7%, education – 8.3%.
The employment rate of the economically active population made up 94.9%, the unemployment rate respectively made up 5.1%.
