President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov held a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Sergei Lavrov at the presidential residence Oqsaroy on 15 July 2015. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov is paying a working visit to Uzbekistan.
Islam Karimov said that Uzbekistan considers current visit a logical continuation of regular political contacts, which help the sides exchange opinion on wide range of issues of mutual interest.
As it was pointed, talks between the Presidents of Uzbekistan and Russia in Ufa on 10 July have become an important event in bilateral relations. The sides noted that it is important to implement agreements, reached during the high level meeting.
During the meeting, Islam Karimov and Sergei Lavrov considered actual international problems, regional security and stability.
Uzbekistan highly appreciates outcomes of the summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in Ufa. In turn, taking a responsible role of the SCO presidency in the coming period, Uzbekistan intends to consistently strengthen and develop multilateral cooperation, which meets interests of all countries of the SCO.
Sergei Lavrov sincerely thanked President Islam Karimov for the warm welcome and the opportunity to thoroughly discuss topical issues of the bilateral agenda and regional issues.
