Uzbekistan adopts additional measures to implementation of ILO conventions

The Government of Uzbekistan with its resolution adopted additional measures on implementation of ratified conventions of International Labour Organization (ILO) for 2014-4016.

The resolution was adopted in order to further implementation of ratified ILO conventions, improve legislation and prevent forced and mandatory labour, as well as prevent the worse forms of child labour.

The document approved a complex of additional measures on implementation of ILO conventions, ratified by Uzbekistan, in 2014-2016.

The complex of measures includes 40 points, which were divided into five directions. Within the programme, Uzbekistan will carry out measures to improve national legislation to comply with ILO conventions and to implement them. It is also planned to develop and implement cooperation programmes with ILO and expand potentials of ILO partners in Uzbekistan. It is also planned to implement information and exploitation works on realization of ILO conventions.

In particular, Uzbekistan plans to adopt a law “On labour protection” in new edition and rules of accepting to work of people under age of 16, as well as review some legislative and departmental acts.

It is also planned to develop policy note on ratified and non-ratified conventions of ILO, as well as recommendations of the ILO. Uzbekistan also will try to join the ILO programme on eliminating child labour. Uzbekistan plans to translate and publish publications of ILO into Russian and Uzbek language, as well as hold various seminars and conferences on ILO conventions.

The Government entrusted ministries and departments of Uzbekistan to adopt necessary measures to implement of the complex of measures.

Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare of Uzbekistan was entrusted to coordinate activities of the state bodies on implementation of the complex of measures and the ILO conventions.

Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare of Uzbekistan in cooperation with the interested sides will monitor and take under control measures on preventing forced child labour and complying to legislation on work of under ages.

The Government recommended Council of Trade Unions Federations of Uzbekistan, Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan, Uzbekistan Farmers Council to participate in implementation of the complex measures and monitoring of implementation of ILO conventions and holding of advocacy events.
