The Government of Uzbekistan approved a programme for development of service sector for 2016-2020.
The programme was adopted in order to ensure balanced development and diversified activities of enterprises in the service sector, improve competitiveness and quality of their services.
According to the programme, the Government of Uzbekistan is planning to increase share of service in economy to 48.7% in 2020 from 47.5% in 2016. At the same, in line with the governmental forecasts, the growth of services will make up 11-13% a year.
The growth of services in rural areas will make up 1.8 times by 2020 compared to 2015, the programme said. The Government also plans to increase share of services and information in economy of Uzbekistan up to 2.5% by 2020.
The priority direction of the programme is also development of financial service with introduction of new electronic and payment technologies, as well as high technologic services in healthcare sector.
The programme also envisages measures on developing infrastructure for service sector and forming, competitive environment for development of small and private businesses.
According to the programme, commercial banks of Uzbekistan will increase financing service enterprises from 1.797 trillion soums in 2016 to 2.631 trillion soums in 2020.
