UZBEKISTAN AND CHINA DISCUSS COOPERATION IN TOURISM

First Deputy Chairman of the State Committee R. Usmanov met with  Deputy Chairman of the State administration of tourism of China Du Jing in Beijing.

Usmanov told about the measures taken to diversify tourism products, including the development of ecological tourism, including adventure tourism, mountain tourism, etc. This course of development is based on the fundamental principles and objectives for strategic development of industry of Uzbekistan, identified by the government.

Du Jing praised the activities held in Uzbekistan in the field of tourism and noted that the presence of the leadership of the State Committee of Uzbekistan for negotiations with the leadership of the tourism administration and tour operators of China will strengthen practical significance and impact of the visit of the Uzbek delegation to China.

Du Jing said that Uzbekistan has great cultural and historical potential for tourism development. Uzbekistan has done much for the development of tourism in the country. Evidence of this is the opening of the UNWTO Office “Silk road”, which seeks to promote the brand of the Great silk road in Uzbekistan and in other countries.

Du Jing proposed to consider the number of events for tour operators of China, in particular, to consider:

– organization of info-tours for tour operators of China, working on sending tourists from China to Uzbekistan;

– conducting presentations and business meetings with tour operators of China;

– participation of representatives of the State Tourism Committee and tour operators of Uzbekistan at exhibitions and fairs held in China in the field of tourism, such as China International tourism market held in Kunming from 20 to 22 October;

– simplify procedures for obtaining Uzbek visas.

– creation of conditions for the use of bank cards by Chinese tourists on the territory of Uzbekistan;

– increase the number of guides with knowledge of Chinese language, as well as opening a television channel in the Chinese language;

– create tourist Union of Central Asian countries, similar to the Tourism Alliance of Eastern Europe countries.

– open representative office of the State Committee in China.

Following the meeting, the sides agreed to maintain close contact between the tourism administrations of the parties on enhancing bilateral cooperation in the field of tourism.
