Uzbekistan and ILO may sign decent work country programme

Chairperson of the Council of Uzbekistan Trade Union’s Federation Tanzila Narbaev received a delegation of International Labour Organization, the press service of the Uzbekistan Trade Union’s Federation said.

The ILO delegation was headed by senior specialist on international labour norms of ILO Alain Pelce. The officials of Uzbekistan Trade Union’s Federation and Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare also attended the meeting.

Tanzila Narbaev presented information on activities of the federation and reforms in labour sector in Uzbekistan, economic development of the country. The information on labour protection and employment of population was also presented at the meeting.

During the meeting, ILO representative Alain Pelce expressed gratitude for detailed information and said that Uzbekistan and ILO established fruitful cooperation. He said that efforts of Uzbekistan on social protection of employers deserve attention.

Within the event, the sides considered issues of signing decent work programme between ILO and Uzbekistan, which is developed in partnership with Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare, Council of Trade Unions, Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan in cooperation with ILO Bureau for Eastern Europe and Central Asia for 2014-2015.

The ILO delegation expressed gratitude for warm welcome and fruitful meeting, and expressed hope for further cooperation.
