The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan organized a business forum with participation of representatives of business circles of Azerbaijan and entrepreneurs of Uzbekistan.
More than 20 representatives of large companies of Azerbaijan and over 50 heads of Uzbekistan enterprises operating in the spheres of construction, trade, pharmaceuticals, packaging materials, printing, ICT and others took part at the event.
Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan A.Ikramov, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan G.Guliyev, the President of the National Confederation of Entrepreneurs’ Organizations of Azerbaijan M.Musayev and others expressed confidence that efforts on expanding the partnership between entrepreneurs of the two countries in the near future will yield their results.
There are 84 enterprises with participation of Azerbaijani investments, including 71 joint ventures and 11 enterprises with 100 percent Azerbaijani capital, in Uzbekistan. They operate in such spheres as trade, mechanical engineering, metalworking, finance, energy, services, food and light industry.
At the event, it was noted that these figures do not correspond to the available opportunities. Issues of strengthening partnership between entrepreneurs of the two countries were discussed, the main attention was paid to increasing the trade turnover and the number of joint ventures.
Responsible representatives of the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Investments, “Uzkurilishmateriallari” (construction industry), “Uzkimyosanoat” (chemical industry), the directorate of Tashkent City International Business Center, the National Confederation of Entrepreneurs’ Organizations of Azerbaijan, Neuron Technologies LLC have made proposals on developing business cooperation.
Following the business forum, an agreement on cooperation was signed between the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan and the National Confederation of Entrepreneurs’ Organizations of Azerbaijan.
