On July 29, on the eve of the official visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the inter-regional forum of Uzbekistan and Belarus kicked off in Minsk. Members of parliaments, officials of ministries and agencies, business people are attending the event along with representatives of the regions of the two countries.
The main objective of the forum, which serves as an important platform for dialogue on expanding cooperation between Uzbekistan and Belarus, is to unite representatives of leading industries and regions into one circle, expanding the practice of developing and implementing joint projects, strengthening interaction in each area of mutual interest.
The first day of the forum was held in the form of breakout sessions.
At the session devoted to issues of industrial cooperation, the expansion of partnership in agriculture, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and pharmaceuticals was discussed.
The second session was devoted to the agrarian sphere. Prospects for cooperation in cultivation and processing of agricultural products, crop production, breeding, animal husbandry and veterinary medicine were discussed.
At the session on development of relations in humanitarian, information, communication, scientific fields, views were exchanged on such promising areas as the exchange of experience in improving technology parks, expansion of interregional innovation cooperation, tourism, digitization of education.
The forum will continue its work on July 30.
It should be noted that on the eve of the official visit, cooperation between regions and businesspeople is being intensified. National Industrial Exhibition of Uzbekistan has been also opened at the National Exhibition Center BelExpo, in Minsk.
The event was organized to increase the volume of supplies of domestic industrial products to Belarus, widely familiarize representatives of this country’s business with the export and investment potential of Uzbekistan.
At the opening ceremony of the exhibition, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Elyor Ganiyev noted the development of trade-economic relations between the two countries and the fact that there are all possibilities for bringing the volume of the trade turnover to 1 billion USD in the near future.
Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus Vladimir Dvornik noted that this event is a logical continuation of the business dialogue started within the framework of the National Exhibition of Belarus 2018, in Tashkent.
The exhibition with over 1000 types of products is attended by 80 enterprises from all regions of Uzbekistan, specialized in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, construction, medicine and pharmaceuticals, petrochemistry, textile industry, information technology. A wide place is devoted to the promotion of Uzbekistan’s opportunities in tourism.
The National Industrial Exhibition of Uzbekistan will continue until August 2.
