Uzbekistan – European Union: a new stage of cooperation

Delegation led by Deputy Managing Director of the European External Action Service Luc Devigne arrived in Uzbekistan.
On February 4, the first round of bilateral negotiations on the draft agreement on expanded partnership and cooperation between Uzbekistan and the European Union kicked off at the International Business Center, in Tashkent.
The Director General of the Agency on Intellectual Property of the Republic of Uzbekistan Alisher Fayzullayev and a working group led by a representative of the European Union delegation for trade Ruta Zarnauskaite held consultations on the issues of intellectual property protection in mutual trade relations.
A.Fayzullayev noted that Uzbekistan has established international integration in protection of intellectual property, in particular, the country is a member of the Bern Convention and many other international treaties and agreements.
The plenary meeting with participation of members of the delegation and representatives of ministries and agencies of the country was chaired by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Dilshod Akhatov and Deputy Managing Director of the European External Action Service Luc Devigne.
The working groups will hold consultations until February 8 on the issues such as trade, political dialogue, intellectual property protection included in the draft of the new agreement.
