A ceremonial event took place in the “O’zbekiston” palace of international forums on 24 January on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the republican international cultural centre.

The chiefs and active members of national cultural centres, members of the parliament and the government, representatives of state and public organizations and representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in this country were invited to the event.

At first, participants in the event visited Independence Square and laid flowers at the monument of independence and kindness, which is a symbol of the country’s sovereignty, bright future and good intentions.

The festive event was declared open.

President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met active members of national cultural centres on 24 January. The head of state congratulated them and the entire multi-ethnic nation of Uzbekistan cordially on the 25th anniversary of the republican international cultural centre. He gave high state awards to many active members of national cultural centres.

At the festive event, a television recording of this meeting was shown.

At the initiative of the country’s First President Islam Karimov and in accordance with a resolution dated 13 January 1992 of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the country’s republican international cultural centre was established.

In 1992, there were 10 national cultural centres in Uzbekistan, and today their number is 137.

“I was born in Uzbekistan, here I got education and achieved family happiness. I am proud to be a citizen of this great country. This ethnic cultural diversity has not only become an integral part of our lives but it also plays an important role in ensuring stability and further extending democratic reforms in society. Uzbekistan’s experience of strengthening inter-ethnic relations is widely recognized in the whole world and serves as an example for many other countries,” says Agrippina Shin, director of the Tashkent vocational college of information technologies, senator and distinguished teacher.

Various events have been held in all the regions of the country on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the republican international cultural centre.

“Today is the most joyous day of my life. Our country’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev gave me a Shuhrat (glory) medal. Uzbekistan is a country of peace and accord, and is our common dear Motherland. In this sacred land, everyone regardless of their ethnicity, faith and language gains recognition and respect for their conscientious work,” says Nina Shubnikova, deputy chairperson of the Belarus cultural centre “Svitanak” in the city of Tashkent.

In a big festive concert programme devoted to the 25th anniversary of the republican international cultural centre, prominent artistes and artistic groups of national cultural centres performed songs about the Motherland, independence, peace and friendship.

The event was attended by the Chairman of the Senate of Oliy Majlis (parliament) of the Republic of Uzbekistan, N.Yoldoshev, the Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis, N.Ismoilov; the Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan, A.Aripov; and a Presidential State Advisor, H.Sultonov.
