The CIS Summit continued with extended negotiations.
Heads of states considered issues aimed at further expanding multilateral cooperation, exchanged views on international and regional issues of mutual interest.
In his speech, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev expressed his gratitude for supporting the decision on Uzbekistan’s chairmanship in the Commonwealth in 2020 and noted that the priority of the country’s chairmanship will become the consistent expansion and increase of the effectiveness of multilateral cooperation within the CIS.
It was proposed to accelerate the adoption of the new Concept for Further Development and the Commonwealth Economic Development Strategy until 2030.
Main attention will be paid to ensuring the full functioning of the free trade zone, deepening production cooperation and developing markets of third countries, developing mutually beneficial forms of cooperation, implementing innovative, scientific and educational programs.
The President of Uzbekistan noted the importance of preparing Priorities for development of transport and transit corridors and the Concept for interregional cooperation for a ten-year period.
The First Forum of the CIS Regions will be held in Uzbekistan next year. It was also proposed to lead a regular meeting of the Council of Heads of CIS Chambers of Commerce and Industry and, under its auspices, the Commonwealth Business Initiatives Week.
Information security events are also planned within the framework of cultural and humanitarian cooperation.
Documents were signed following the negotiations. The Decision on Uzbekistan’s chairmanship in the CIS in 2020, the Declaration on Strategic Economic Cooperation, and the Address of the Heads of CIS Member States to the people of the Commonwealth and the world community on the occasion of the 75th Anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941–1945, Cooperation Program in the fight against terrorism and other violent manifestations of extremism for 2020–2022 and other documents were taken.
