Uzbekistan is planning to create national general education electronic library till the end of 2015.
The project “National general education electronic library” will be realized within the state programme “The Year of healthy children”.
As reported earlier, President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov with his resolution from 19 February approved a state programme “The Year of healthy children”.
The project will be implemented in 2014-2015. Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF, South Korea) provided a US$14 million loan to Uzbekistan to create single electronic library network. The EDCF loan was issued for 40 years under interest rate of 0.1% APR. The state budget will issue 85 million soums to the project.
It is planned to create and equip two centers – multimedia center and scanning center.
The project envisages measures on digitalization of funds of National Library of Uzbekistan named after Alisher Navoi and information-library establishment sof Uzbekistan.
Uzbekistan plans to create single digital library network with the cost of US$40 million by the end of 2015. The network will unite 5,700 public libraries and 1,200 information-educational centers with total library fund of about 40 million books and publications.
In the result of the project, these publications will be available for population across Uzbekistan.
