Uzbekistan – Turkey Businessmen Meeting

On January 16, a “round table” with participation of businessmen of Uzbekistan and Turkey was held within the framework of the visit to our country of the delegation led by the CEO and the member of the board of Ziraat Bank (Turkey) Hüseyin Aydin.

The event, organized by the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Investments jointly with the Agency on Development of Pharmaceutical Industry, “Uzkurilishmateriallari” (Uzbekistan construction materials) JSC, “Uztukimachiliksanoat” (Uzbekistan textile industry) association and other organizations, was attended by members of the official delegation of Turkey, as well as heads of ministries, departments, and companies of the two countries responsible for construction, energy, mechanical engineering, geology, food, chemical, pharmaceutical industries, tourism. The current state of trade economic relations between our countries, prospects for development of investment cooperation, strengthening relations in transport, communication, tourism, construction and other sectors were discussed.

Convenient geographical location of our country, steady liberalization of the economy, optimal investment environment is attracting businessmen from Turkey, along with other investors. Developed industry of this country, transport communications, sea routes, potential opportunities in the sphere of agriculture and tourism, in turn, are beneficial for our country.

Chairman of the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Investments A.Akhmedkhodjayev, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkey to our country Ahmet Bashar and others noted that multifaceted cooperation between Uzbekistan and Turkey is developing on the basis of equality, in the spirit of mutual trust. Mutually beneficial partnership is increasingly expanding thanks to the meetings of the heads of the two states, visits of delegations of ministries, departments, and joint activities.

Participants of the “round table” noted that there are still many unused opportunities for cooperation, and this visit will give a new impetus to development of interrelations between ministries and departments, businessmen of the two countries.

At the event, information was provided on tax and customs incentives for foreign investors for improving business climate in our country, liberalizing the economy, increasing investment attractiveness.

During the meeting, issues related to further development of pharmaceutical industry were also discussed. Turkish businessmen were provided with detailed information on activities in this sphere, provided benefits and preferences.

Views were exchanged on implementation of joint projects and programs.
