People of Uzbekistan and Turkey have long been associated with friendly and fraternal ties, common traditions, language and culture. Developed industry, transport communications, sea routes, agriculture, tourist potential, huge experience of statehood of Turkey are very important for Uzbekistan.
Turkey is in the G20, can serve as a worthy example on the level of economic development.
Studying achievements of Turkey in the specified branches, using the best practices of this country when carrying out reforms, modernization of economy, as well as involvement of the Turkish businessmen and companies in the projects realized in Uzbekistan completely are equitable to the interests of our country.
In turn, Uzbekistan occupies an important place in Turkey’s foreign policy in the region. The country today is one of the key partners of Ankara in Central Asia. Uzbekistan attracts Turkey with its huge market, moving along the path of economic liberalization, a favorable investment climate, historical cities, sacred places of pilgrimage. Hence, both sides are interested in strengthening cooperation.
Relations of Uzbekistan and Turkey are consistently developing, and the tendency of positive growth is noticeable in all spheres. Today there are about 500 Turkish companies in Uzbekistan. If in 2016 the trade turnover volume between the two countries was 1,2 billion US dollars, then in nine months of 2017 it has increased by 29 percent. Only last year, more than 20 enterprises have been organized with participation of investments of businessmen from Turkey. Representative offices of 53 companies of this country are accredited in Uzbekistan. These figures clearly demonstrate huge prospects of the Uzbek-Turkish relations.
The state visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Turkey on October 25-26, 2017 became a logical continuation of this dialogue. During the visit, issues of cooperation between Uzbekistan and Turkey in political, trade-economic, investment, transport and communication spheres, agriculture, transport, tourism, science and others were discussed in detail.
As a result of the negotiations between Uzbekistan and Turkey, more than 20 documents relating to various areas were signed. A special place among them is the Joint Statement signed by the Presidents.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted that the agreement reached to bring the volume of trade turnover between the two countries in the coming years to 3-4 billion dollars opens wide opportunities for entrepreneurs of the two countries.
The planned visit of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Uzbekistan will serve to raise the level of relations between the two countries to an even higher level. The documents and agreements to be signed undoubtedly will further strengthen the friendship between fraternal peoples.
