UZBEKISTAN WILL RECORD UZBEK MUSIC OF THE 1920S FROM THE COLLECTION OF THE PUSHKIN HOUSE

November 28, 2017 in Tashkent will be a unique cultural event – an evening of musical art of Uzbekistan.

Famous Uzbek performers will acquaint guests with classical folklore works of Uzbekistan. The parts of the famous Uzbek makoms will be sounded, which are included by UNESCO in the list of masterpieces of the oral and intangible cultural heritage of mankind.

For the first time, rare archive records will be played on rolls in the collections of the Institute of Russian Literature (Pushkin House) of the Russian Academy of Sciences in St. Petersburg, which were recorded by Russian researchers on the Edison phonograph back in the 1920s. This collection has been stored in Russia for a century now. Now almost all the records are decoded and translated into digital format. A video version of this collection will be shown at the evening.

The evening will be held in the framework of the International Media Forum “The Crossroads of Times: The Great Legacy of the Past – the Basis of an Enlightened Future”.
