Uzbekistan's position in Doing Business ranking improves

Tashkent hosted a roundtable discussion on “Improving the position of Uzbekistan in Doing Business ranking: achieved results and priorities”.
The event was organized by the Committee on International Relations, Foreign Economic Relations, Foreign Investments and Tourism of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan together with the Administration of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as Representative Office of the United Nations Development Programme in Uzbekistan.
Thanks to the developed measures on supporting business entities, a radical improvement in investment attractiveness, Uzbekistan among 190 countries of the world has risen from 146 to 76 in Doing Business ranking of the World Bank and the International Finance Corporation.
In order to further improve this indicator, a resolution was adopted by the President of the country “On additional measures for improving the Doing Business rating of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the annual report of the World Bank and the International Finance Corporation” of February 5 this year. A number of ministries and agencies are assigned specific tasks in this area, the corresponding roadmap was approved.
At the roundtable discussion, other issues that hinder the formation of a favorable investment environment in the country were also discussed.
Views were exchanged on current issues, such as improving the quality of business services, further attracting investments, holding regular dialogue between government agencies and entrepreneurs.
