On 29 March, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received Alexey Miller, chairman of the management committee of Russia’s Gazprom, who was in our country on a working visit.

Greeting the guest, the head of our state expressed deep satisfaction with the current high level of long-term and mutually advantageous bilateral cooperation achieved in the oil and gas sector.

Today, Gazprom is one of the leading energy companies in the world and has been active in implementing major projects designed to explore and develop prospective hydrocarbon fields in Uzbekistan, as well as in exporting natural gas.

In partnership with the Russian company, large-scale geological prospecting has been carried out in Ustyurt, which resulted in the discovery of gas-condensate field Jel. The Shakhpakhty field is under joint development, where over 3.5 billion cubic meters of gas has been extracted thus far.

In addition, Gazrpom takes part in the realization of projects on exploring and developing fields in the Gissar region, salvaging associated petroleum gases, and promoting the activities of our country’s leading industrial design institute, UzLITINEFTEGAZ.

During the meeting, Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Alexey Miller discussed promising schemes directed at the enhancement of mutually beneficial interaction toward the development of the oil and gas complex of Uzbekistan, including those envisioned within the framework of the adopted 2017-2021 program to boost hydrocarbon production.

A particular attention was paid to cooperation in the field of training and professional advancement of specialists.

The Gazprom chief executive extended sincere gratitude to the President of our country for the warm welcome and his comprehensive support for joint projects. Miller expressed willingness to build up full-scale cooperation with Uzbekistan.
