Vladimir Norov meets with the U.S. Assistant Secretary of State

On May 24, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Vladimir Norov met with the U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Donald Lu, Uzbekistan MFA reports.
The parties discussed the current state and prospects for the development of Uzbekistan – American relations in various fields.

The American side highly appreciated the transformations carried out in Uzbekistan under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, as well as the constructive and open foreign policy of the country. The readiness of the U.S. Government to actively contribute to the reformation process in Uzbekistan was emphasized.

The trend of intensification of the political dialogue observed in recent years was noted with satisfaction. The decision to transform the mechanism of annual consultations into a Strategic Partnership Dialogue and the successful holding of its first meeting in Tashkent in 2021 became significant events in the history of bilateral relations and demonstrated the readiness of the parties to comprehensively increase cooperation.

The importance of careful preparation for the next session of the Strategic Partnership Dialogue in Washington and its industry meetings at the expert level was emphasized.

The commitment of Uzbekistan and the United States to continue cooperation within the framework of the C5+1 format to achieve concrete results in the infrastructure, energy, transport, environmental protection and combating climate change was confirmed.

Views on regional and international issues were also exchanged. Uzbekistan’s efforts to provide humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan and promote projects designed to promote the establishment of long-term peace and economic recovery of this country were highly appreciated.
