“Silk Route Marionettes Theater Studio” Tashkent puppet theater is the only puppet theater in the territory of the Central Asian States, created at the crossroads of the Silk Road and incorporating the spirituality of the East and the energy of the West.
This unique theater was founded in 2013, the theater itself and the driving technique of puppets, is a prototype of the puppet theater of the city of Salzburg (Austria), which in 2016 was included in the list of the World Intangible Cultural Heritage of UNESCO. There are 150 seats in the performance hall. Performances in the theater are shown in Uzbek and Russian, and there is also the possibility of watching the play with subtitles in English.
The cultural direction takes a special place in the country and in the interests of developing the culture and traditions of Uzbek people, the theater offers the tourists performances in ethnic style. Various sets of applied arts of Uzbekistan are used in decorations and costumes, such as suzane, gold embroidery, hand-made fabrics – adras, silk and satin. Each doll is created according to individual author’s sketches and is handmade. Each viewer will be able to see different genres of national traditional art and discover new facets of humor and good mood.
“Silk Route Marionettes Theater Studio” seeks to show the culture of Uzbek people, to provide a favorable influence on development of cultural and educational sphere of tourism, as well as to increase the flow of foreign tourists to the country. State Committee for Tourism Development of Uzbekistan recommends all tourists to visit the puppet theater for cultural rest.
