WHO Director-General will visit Uzbekistan

As previously reported, on May 21, the 71st session of the World Health Assembly began its work in Geneva, Switzerland. The delegation of Uzbekistan led by the Minister of Health of Uzbekistan Alisher Shadmanov is also attending the event.

The purpose of this forum is to get acquainted with the experience of different countries of the world, study their best practices, implement them and find effective solutions to problems related to public health. In addition, at the session attended by 194 WHO member states, including the delegation of Uzbekistan, global problems and their solutions observed by international organization in the healthcare system were discussed. At the current session, reports are heard on the impact of the environment on human health, the road map for reducing this phenomenon, providing drugs and vaccines, preventing noncommunicable diseases, protecting health of women, children and adolescents.

During the event, a bilateral meeting of the Minister of Health of Uzbekistan Alisher Shadmanov with WHO Director-General Tedros Ghebreyesus took place. At the meeting, reforms in the healthcare system that have been implemented in Uzbekistan in recent years, increasing the level of medical services rendered to the population, as well as normative acts adopted in this sphere, prospective plans and programs were discussed.

At committee meetings, member states are approving draft resolutions that will be formally adopted at the plenary session at the end of the 71st session of the World Health Assembly on May 26.
