In Jizzakh, the regional phase of the contest for the state award Zulfiya has taken place.
The event was held at the boarding school for extensive studies of the Uzbek language and literature named after Hamid Olimjon and Zulfiya. 100 girls displayed their knowledge and potential in such areas as literature, art, science, education and culture.
At the initiative of the President of the country, this year a monument to Hamid Olimjon and Zulfiya was put up in Jizzakh.
Before the beginning of the contest, its participants laid flowers at the monument to Hamid Olimjon and Zulfiya, prominent representatives of Uzbek national literature. The participants also visited a museum devoted to them.
Since the establishment of the state award Zulfiya, 17 girls of the region won this high award. Today most of them work fruitfully in such spheres as science, culture, literature and art.
“Winning the Zulfiya award is especially prestigious for girls of Jizzakh,” says G.Torayeva, deputy hokim (deputy governor) of Jizzakh Region and chairperson of the regional women’s committee.
The participants displayed their deep knowledge about such areas as literature, art, education, culture, the history of the Motherland and the world’s cultural heritage. Jury members also evaluated these girls’ understanding of the essence and significance of reforms being carried out in this country.
The participants who achieved the best results in those areas will be taking part in the republican phase of the contest.
