Workshop – Tourism on the Silk Road

The State Committee for Tourism Development carries out systematic work on holding events within the framework of the “Year of Uzbekistan in Kazakhstan”.
 
On July 26, 2018, Tashkent hosted Tourism on the Silk Road workshop. The meeting was attended by leadership of the State Committee for Tourism Development of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Akimat of Turkestan region of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as representatives of tourism industry of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.
At the opening ceremony of the event, Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for Tourism Development Abdulaziz Akkulov expressed gratitude for cooperation to Kazakhstan colleagues, emphasized the importance of strengthening relations and wished good luck in B2B meetings to both sides.
In turn, Deputy akim of Turkestan region Yerbol Tasjurekov thanked on behalf of guests for the warm welcome by Uzbek colleagues and noted that new level of relations between the countries should be reflected in tourism sector. This requires involvement of both sides – the state and private sector.
A presentation of tourism potential of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan was held during the workshop, detailed information was provided on possibilities of joint development of new and modern tourist destinations, including combined tours along the Silk Road. B2B meetings were also held between the companies of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan in the sphere of tourism, including representatives of medical institutions, hotels and travel companies.
According to the State Committee for Tourism Development, cooperation agreements between various travel companies of the two countries were signed. The partners agreed on development of new tourism products, covering tourist centers and potential opportunities of both countries.
