Deputy Chairman of the State Committee on Development of Tourism Sh.Sharakhmetov met with the head of the pilot delegation of the World Air Sports Federation (FAI, Switzerland) Peter Blaser and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Swiss Confederation to Uzbekistan, Olivier Chave.
According to the Press Service of the State Committee on Development of Tourism of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the purpose of the meeting was to discuss the possibility of organizing international championships and festivals in aeronautics, as well as conducting master classes and demonstration flights in Samarkand and Bukhara.
Deputy Chairman of the State Committee on Development of Tourism expressed gratitude to Mr. Blaser for his interest in development and promotion of air sports in Uzbekistan. The guests were informed in detail about measures being taken by the government on improving the image of the country in tourism industry. In particular, it was noted that active work is currently being carried out on organizing events using air balloons in major cities of the country, in particular in Tashkent and Bukhara. In order to further develop this sport and conduct leisure, a number of normative legal documents were adopted on promoting increase in the number of aerostats in the republic.
Ambassador Olivier Chave, speaking of historical origin of tourism, the importance of air transport in Switzerland, noted that conduction of the planned events will serve not only to the development of the sports sphere, but also has a positive effect on the number of tourists arriving in Uzbekistan.
Peter Blaser also expressed his readiness to cooperate with the Uzbek side in the field of aeronautics. It was noted that the issue of importing four sports aerostats to the territory of Uzbekistan, each of which is equal to 2000 m3, as well as the readiness of a group of pilots of the World Air Sports Federation to provide practical support in conducting master classes on the correct use of airborne aircraft, is currently under consideration. Implementation of these measures on the territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan is planned for April 2018.
Following the meeting, the sides reached an agreement on further cooperation in implementing the planned measures and providing necessary support in promoting aeronautics in Uzbekistan.
