XI national award in the field of journalism “Oltin kalam”

International competition of the XI National Award “Oltin kalam” (“Golden pen”) has been held by the Creative Union of Journalists of Uzbekistan together with the Training Centre of Journalists for popularization of the best achievements of national and international journalism, displaying high civil position of media workers, formation of critical thinking, as well as new approaches to the creative activity of journalists.

The competition is dedicated to the World Press Freedom Day, celebrating on May 3. Competitive materials, published in newspapers and magazines, aired TV and radio as well as online publications for the year (from April 1, 2015 to March 31, 2016) will be accepted until April 10, 2016.

The following prizes are established for the winners.

The main national award for journalism

The winner is awarded a special diploma, the badge “Oltin kalam”, a statuette and a cash prize in the amount of 200 minimum wages, established in Uzbekistan.

The main awards:

National award for the best journalistic material (TV) – 1st, 2nd, 3rd places; National award for the best journalistic material (radio) – 1st, 2nd, 3rd places; National award for the best journalistic material (periodicals) – 1st, 2nd, 3rd places; National award for the best journalistic material (online journalism) – 1st, 2nd, 3rd places.

Winners of the 1st place will be awarded with a diploma, the badge “Oltin kalam”, a statuette and a cash prize in the amount of 160 minimum wages. Winners of the 2nd place will be awarded with a diploma, the badge “Oltin kalam”, a statuette and a cash prize in the amount of 140 minimum wages. Winners of the 3rd place will be awarded with a diploma, the badge “Oltin kalam”, a statuette and a cash prize in the amount of 120 minimum wages.

Nominations within the encouraging awards:

– the best photo;

– the best press-service.

The winners of encouraging prizes are awarded a diploma, a statuette and a cash prize in the amount of 50 minimum wages.

Representations of several international organizations and non-governmental organizations in Uzbekistan have also set up their prizes.

Television, radio, printed materials, online publication (at least 5 works) are presented at the competition.

TV programs (video):

– footage is to be submitted on any video medium with duration from 3 to 30 minutes.

Movies (CD, DVD audio materials):

– duration of materials should be from 5 to 30 minutes;

– audio cassette or CD with the recording material.

Publication:

– The original (or copy) of periodical in which the material is published.

The work is attached information about the author:

– name, a brief summary of the professional activity;

– address, telephone number;

– passport data.

The award ceremony will be held in a festive atmosphere on May 3, 2016, World Press Freedom Day. The prize will not be awarded to the same person again.
