07.08.2014 Tel Aviv – Foreign expert circles are showing crescent interest in reforms in Uzbekistan, particularly in the process of further democratization of the electoral system.
The official website of the International Expert Center for Electoral Systems (Israel) published an article on this topic. It gives details on changes and additions made in the Constitution of our country, the main purpose of which is to increase the effectiveness of legal mechanisms, reliable supply of electoral rights of citizens and their free will, introduction of new forms, methods and conditions for election campaigning.
As the newspaper writes, constitutional recognition of the status of the Central Election Commission (CEC) as an independent democratic institution for the preparation and conduct of elections, without any interference from other government bodies, is the most important guarantee of democratic elections.
The article emphasizes that the adoption and implementation of the draft law aimed at strengthening the financial independence of the Central Election Commission in the preparation and conduct of elections, will contribute to the full implementation of the principle of freedom of choice, further democratization of the sphere, strengthening the principles of openness and transparency.
